Systems help me pleeeeeeeeeeease!

my brother has purchased a bigger hdd for the computer and we installed windows xp on it. but when we remove the old drive it wont work.
c: system drive
g: boot drive

any ideas

well, is the new drive set for master? and did you connect it the right way with the ide cable, if you removed your old drive, should connect your ide cable from board to end of cable, the cable should have had board connector/middle connector/end connector. make sure your not connected to the middle connector and set the HD to MS using the jumpers on HD, should boot up.

at the moment the new one is slave and is on the end of the casble

Well the new drive should be the master if that is the only drive in the system.

Also you may have a problem if the boot.ini file is on the old drive.

when i take the other one out i change to master and it does not boot is boot.ini installed when you install xp

put the new one at the end of cable, set to master, restart pc see if it works...you could also put the old one in as slave put it on the middle connector.

it did not work came up with missing ntldr please press alt ctrl and del to restart

As I understand it you installed XP on the slave drive, removed the old master, and now you can't boot.

Is this right?

If so, it is because of what I said earlier.

The system is looking for the boot.ini file which was on the old master and it tells where to load the OS from.

You may just want to reload XP from scratch.
