Linux Startup Options

When I boot, I get the options for: linux-enterpris, linux, linux-nonfb, failsafe, and windows. I know that linux=linux and windows=windows, but what are linux-enterpris, linux-nonfb, and failsafe? just wondering..thanks

linux-nonfb removes the "vga=" switch that enables the framebuffer (so you don't get a nice high res console).

failsafe just disables a few options (like acpi I think, but would need to check).

I think linux-enterpris may boot a kernel image that includes support for large amounts of memory etc, however I could be wrong.

Regards

Yeah, what Eddy said...........

With Mandrake, you get the "Enterprise" kernel if you have 1 GB or more of memory. This will be set as the default. I believe it supports memory up to 4 GB.
