Help, I want to run a site but don't know about what
I've wanted to run a website for some time, but I'm having a hard time finding something that:
1) I could actually do, being 16
2) Doesn't cost a bunch of money
3) Is something different, not just another tech news site
I stumbled across an ad or whatever for GoDaddy and their sale on domain names, rather cheap compared to a couple years ago ($100/year anyone?) so I'm thinking I could jump on it. I wouldn't be in time for the sale as it ends at the end of April, but even without the cheaper prices it's still very inexpensive by about $3 more. Big whoop.
If I actually go through with this, order a domain + hosting, I will be certain to credit TIMO and a specific member if applicable. Here's my problem: I'm a mono-focused g33k running just one modern (Athlon) box and a PIII laptop, and I want to make a site about something. I'm interested in such things like computers, tech advancements, graphic design/3D art, audio, and gaming.
Has anyone gotten an idea in their head about a site that they wanted to be designed but didn't want to go through the work? I don't know HTML except for the basic stuff unless I grab snippets of websites, and more advanced techniques like PHP, CGI, and Javascript are out of my league right now.
Now, another thing. I could, it's a possibility, that another member here or two could pitch in also, especially if it was a hardware- or software-oriented website and had machines laying around to act as testbeds since I only have one and it can't test Intel procs.
Help! BTW - this would probably be for my senior project, a requirement for graduation of high school.
-----------------
Next thing - if I started up a hardware site, and this is a dumb question...but things like PCI Express cards are right around the corner and I wanted to test them, companies would send out PCI-Ex mobos/procs etc along with the hardware in question right? I'm kind of a n00b when it comes to things like this. Any advice would be taken into much consideration.

I don't know, I can't even put a window in my case so a mod site might not be the best thing, it's a thought though. How does anyone else think about another mod house popping up?

That was my other concern - either host it on my DSL with 16KB/s upload and use my 300Mhz AMD K6-2 as a server, or....pay $3/month for hosting through GoDaddy. It doesn't have to be them though.

Well, I can't divulge much of anything without his permission as it's a PM, but the idea was a tech link directory (and I hope I don't get nailed for saying that).
