NTLDR MORE PROBLEMS

I am working on a Gateway right now that came with Windows ME installed on it. It is giving me NTLDR errors. It will boot up and go into Win but then I get the BSOD. AGGHHH!!! I have tried booting from a restore disk but it is still giving me NTLDR error messages. I tried to boot from CD ROM but it will not boot from their ME disk. Is there anything else I can try before I fdisk this computer.

Let me get this right, your OS is WinMe or Win2000 -XP? You could try to fix the install with the WinXp disk. It never worked for me but might for you.


I've never seen a good fix for the problem, but wait around a bit before you do a reformat.

I had that problem on a WinXP machine.

I was told lots of fixes and tried them all. At the end of the day I still could not get it back properly into windows so I just formatted and re-started from scratch.

It's a Win ME machine. I think I might just have to fdisk and start over.

TBH its what I'd recommend.

Even if you get around it the amount of time it would have taken to get it right you could have reinstalled and fully patched it 10 times

Good point... I think I am just going to fdisk and say oh well about it all!

In that case just reinstall WinMe over the top.

We have tried to reinstall the program over top but now are getting no CD-ROM drivers are there. Any other sugguestions.

Anytime I've ever had that problem, the only thing that worked was a format and clean install. I'd try and find an extra hard drive to backup any important stuff though. Even if you can't get into Windows to do it, you may be able to find a DR-DOS or some other kind of command-line boot disk. Good luck...sounds like you'll need it.
