Systems network newbie needs help

i have 2 computer with xp pro.
i use netgear router rp614 to link them up.
i can easily get internet connection with my router
but i can't share files and share printers >_<

1. Make sure the PCs are in the same "workgroup" (assign a workgroup name with no spaces/odd characters)
2. Make sure each PC has a unique name (again, no spaces in the PC's name)
3. Make sure Microsoft "Client for Networks" is the default login.
4. Make sure that you create identical user accounts on each PC (exact same username/password).
5. turn off all firewall or other protector

all the above i have done, but i still can't share files.
can any genius help me? this is my 1st try to make networking.

when i type do the \\server\shared folder on the "add network place" i come out a sentece that write "the folder u enter does not valid" help me >_<

i want to say sry to everyone because of the weakness of my english.anyway i'm china boy.....

Have you done basic troubleshooting?
Like pinging the computers, verifying you have a shared folder, trying to map with \\<ip here>\<shared folder> instead of dns name.

Your error message is a bit obscure.

I would lean towards inappropriate shares.
Have you disabled simple file sharing? (in explorer, tools->folder options->advanced)

If so, is your folder shared without spaces? Eg. share name 'share', not 'shared folder'

If you have U.S. os, go to command prompt, type 'net use u: \\<ip here>\<shared folder>' and post the exact error message.

Welcome to TechIMO!!

Have you actually "shared" any folders/drives on each computer?

You can also try from command prompt the following->

net view \\<ip/dns name here>

It should list the current shared folders in target computer.
