Real Player Help

I d/l real player the other week after my win98 install, i hardly use it but today i went to play some music which was in rm, anyway, it kept saying that it couldn't play back and it would have to d/l plugins, but after trying to install the plugin it kept coming up with, real player has performed an illeagle opperation and will shut down, i uninstalled and d/l'd again just for the same to happen, any ideas what could be the prob?

i would say get dbpoweramp music converter and the real audio codec reader for it then convert those files to mp3 and play them in winamp or something else.
