When you got ready to install the AIW card, did you remove the drivers for the old card?

Try putting your old video card back in, uninstalling the drivers, and shutting down the system. Remove the old card, install the AIW, and boot the system. After the system boots up (cancel any popups about installing new hardware), run the installer program on the CD that came with the video card.

I did not have a old card. When I set the cumputer up I used the built in video card on the mobo. The mobo user guide says that the on board video card will shut down when I use the AGP slot.I don't know if I need to down load a AGP driver or not when I install the mobo it says installing AGP driver. But in the AWI user set up guide it says to determine the chipset manufacturer for my motherboard. So before I put the card in I down loaded a AGP driver from www.AMD.com .Do you think that could be the problem.Should I try to run it with the agp driver that came with the motherboard? Also even with the AGP driver from AMD or the one with the mother board installed I can't find them in my device manager.

The most successful and stable builds/installs that I have done were done in this order.
  1. Assemble system.
  2. Power up and enter bios setup to make sure that the processor and RAM are running at the proper speed/timings.
  3. Install the operating system.
  4. Run the CD that came with the motherboard and install all the motherboard drivers.
  5. Install video drivers.
  6. Install any OS updates (Windows Update).
  7. Install applications.
If you are still having problems, go to the following links and download the latest drivers for the motherboard and video card.

VIA Hyperion Drivers

ATI Catalyst Drivers - Make sure that you uninstall the old ATI drivers before running the installer.
