scanning question.

hey all, I have a lexmark 5150 scanner, I'm trying to scan an 8x10 photo that has a white background, when I scan it though it automatically crops out the the white until it gets to a color, is there a setting that can make it so it includes the white in the photo, any help or suggestion are appreciated.

p.s. I have put construction paper around it so that it detects the constuction paper, but I'm hoping there's an easier and cleaner way of doing it than that.

i just put a sheet of paper in my scanner, like you, but i suppose you could use a small white sticker on the lid.

I have never used Lexmark's scanning software, but there should be an 'auto-crop' option that you can turn off. (When it 'cuts out' the white area.. it is automatically cropping the picture.. so you'd want to find a way to turn that off.)

Sorry I can't be more precise, but hopefully that gives you a place to look.
