asus ti4200/ 2.0 celeron system?????

am running a 2.0 cely
256 ddr pc2100(soon to be upgraded to 512ddr333)
ti4200 128 Asus

i just installed nascar 4 and ran using direct 3d and had terrible graphics...so i switched to open GL and wow, ran great, with all the eye candy.. any one know why that is? I would think the ti4200 128 would be able to handle an older game like nascar 4 running direct 3d? or is it possible my ram or cpu would cause that?

Think it may be the game as I also had to use Open GL to get better, stable graphics.

well, on another system i did have, i ran:
athlon xp 2500
1 gig dual channel ddr333
ati 9600 pro 128

etc.... and it ran awsome using direct 3d, looked really good...
