Systems weird display images

Hi, everyone. Question for the day- I have a radeon 9200se graphics card that I had installed using the cd it came with and everything seemed to work fine until I attempted to play a game. If I play anytype of 3d action game little flickering dots appear on the screen occasionally you know, just enough to aggrivate you. Also when playing a game sometimes objects in the game have unusual lines coming out of them, sharp looking spikes if you will. I have tried intalling the latest catalist for the driver to no avail, so I rolled it back. I have tried just about everything and the card just does not run without those type of problems. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated. My bios is updated as well as all of my drivers. I am running windows xp pro if this is helpful to you.

Are you overclocking the memory speeds by any chance?
Is the card getting proper ventilation?

I am not overclocking the memory speeds on the card, but the memory in my system is overclocked just a little. My system temp stays at 33c the majority of the time. I do not have a fan directly on the card just a fan on my cpu, power supply, and back of the case? Could it be that I am not getting enough airflow?

how bout are you overclocking your FSB or just your cpu multiplier, what are your system specs . Those type of problems sound like an overclocking problem, usually if you overclock your video card to much you get those systems..but if your FSB is overclocked, could be overclocking your video card.

I have my front side bus overclocked as well as my memory but I have not messed with the multiplier at all. I tried setting everything back to optimal (no overclocking) and the graphics still display those kind of problems- is my case not getting enough ventilation?

well, ventallation shouldn't be a prob. how many case fans to you have though and is the system clean (dust free)? I would uninstall all graphics drivers, ati drivers , etc., then reboot, let windows pick up the card, then reinstall the video drivers with the cd. You might want to maybe take out the card, check it over to see if you see any defects, then reseat it also.

Ok I will try that. The system is brand new and I have a pretty cheap caseyou know, the 40.00 comp usa special. I have a case fan in the back set up as an exaust fan underneath my power supply. So all the fans I have are just the cpu, power supply, and the one in the case.

If you have the FSB overclocked, does your system has a AGP/PCI lock?
If not, maybe you are overclocking the AGP port too high and some video cards cannot take it.!
Try underclocking or running at default speeds and see if you get the same results.!!!

No the agp bus is still set at 66mhz. That is the same setting if I was to run the system standard or overclock.
