At Home Errors! (Windows XP)

I am sick and tired of these errors I am getting with my brand new computer. I am using Windows XP Professional. Every time after about a couple of days of using the OS, I get all these Delayed Write Failure errors in the login screen. One by one I have to click OK and more errors show up. I end up formatting and installing Windows over again every single time! The errors are different. Some about WINDOWS/Fonts, or WINDOWS/M$st something. All are Delayed Write Failure errors. One time after restarting the whole screen got literally blurry, and I didn't see a thing, restarted and all these errors showed up. All the error say it couldn't save the file and it could be because of hardware issues or internet connection. I don't know what causes these errors to appear, but I do not think its hardware related, but software related. Because when using Windows 2000 Professional on the same computer I don't get any errors at all. I am totally without a clue what it could be. Help please, its a brand new computer.

Intel Pentium 4 3.2GHz w/HT 800FSB, 512KB Cache
Maxtor 160GB, 8MB Cache
1024MB DDR PC3200
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB
Levicom PSU 500W
Windows XP Professional

Been here-> done that-> have the t-shirt-> AND I got a replacement hard drive from Dell. (even though come to find out, I didn't need one.)

But the problem is a "Known" conflict with ATI Video cards->WinXP & Large amounts of System Memory

See the attached Pic->It's the "System Cache" mem switch that's doing it.

ATI has some stuff about this on their site.

I think I finally found the solution.
I have now installed everything I usually install in Windows XP expect for one thing that I was suspicious about and decided not to install it since it may be the cause of these errors. Turns out I was right. The driver for my motherboard (Asus P4C800) that came with it in a CD was the cause of the problem I was having. I was suspicious about it since every time I installed it my mouse died until I restarted the computer, and I just thought there was something wrong with it (I also guessed I believe)

Now I do have another problem. This driver for my motherboard was the solution for the problem I had with the ATI video card driver. In its options where is says SMARTGARD I wasn't able to have it in AGP 8X, it always showed OFF until I installed the driver and it automatically changed itself to AGP 8X. Now it cant, and stays in OFF. What is the problem then? Well, I get poor performance with my video card. I get much higher scores in the 3DMark benchmarks when I have it in AGP 8X then in OFF. The games also run with higher FPS and smoother. This was why I had a huge improvement in my scores in 3DMark (Thread) and I always thought it was because I disabled many services, but I was wrong. It was the driver for my motherboard that caused my scores to improve dramatically.

I want the best out of my video card, but right now I cant. This driver that I received in the CD helps my video card to not be limited, while it causes Windows to give me errors.
What do I do know?
Do I just ignore this and just let it be?
Please, can someone help me?

I dont get it Steve.
So what is the solution?
To not move it to 'System Cache'
Maybe this is the solution and not the motherboard driver that caused the errors (as I thought) Because I switched from using the memory usage in Programs to System cache (did this because a tweak from TweakXP said to do so)

I am just comfused.
Sorry for making it confusing, I have just a huge headache right now.

"switched from using the memory usage in Programs to System cache"

First time I crashed and burned I had no idea why...Got a new drive from Dell. Got it all set up, made the switch and BOOM...I'll go to ATI and find the reference...Delayed Write Failure is a know issue...

Its amazing it caused such a huge problem and the solution is so simple! I can't believe it. TechIMO saved me from calling support and getting headaches and, well you get my point

Jenniffer1869...
You will probably get much more response if you start a new thread on your problem... it is not at all related to the topic of DanGrease's original post here. Also, your problem probably better belongs in the Applications and Operating Systems forum here at TechIMO.

PS: welcome to TechIMO.
