in CDRom headphone?

OK new prob
I have this new build
ECS K7S5A Pro
I have a Vanta 8MB video
NIC
SoundBlaster Live audio
LiteOn 52X CDRW
128 pc133 SDRAM
98se

I have tried everything to get the headphone jack on the front of the CDRW to work
The Play Control displays the color graph, so its playing.
The external speakers play great.
CD Audio, Line in, Tad in, MIDI, Wave/Direct Sound
ALL have the mute box unchecked
I have the Sound cable connected to the SBL card , tried CDin,AUX,
And TAD in.
What simple little thing am i overlooking,

Thanks

Wow. You got me. I tried the front CDROM jack on both our systems and neither one worked while playing an audio CD. I looked in the faqs page at Plextor and they suggested turning off "Enable digital audio for this CD-ROM device." in the CDROM properties under device manager. I tried that on both systems with no luck. I'm not worried about it much since I have my headphones directly connected to my souncard.

Ya know the gremlins are at work here?
But my problem is I just can't bring myself to set this otherwise nice Basic Box in my customers house not fully functional.
This is just a oversite of some sort?

I think you need the CD-IN cable connected to your CD drive into your sound card? I may be wrong.

Both of mine work. But they also have the controls ont he front of the cdrom. I think that the cdroms without the play/pause button on front can't do it, or there is another trick to enable it that no one knows except the people that made the cdrom.
