spyware/adware programs that work....

im having alot of trouble with spyware and adware and it's driving me crazy (the one which pop ups and opens my cd rom is really annoying). I have been using spybot search and destroy which is a great program, but i still cant seem to get all of the spyware off. Anyone have any suggestions, some other programs that work?

yea...ad-aware+spy-bot search and destroy overlap each other but one gets what the other misses.

.i have found that they may need to run in different order to get everything.

try...ad-aware.. then spy-bot.. then ad-aware a second time.

then next time reverse it and do spy-bot.. then ad-aware.. then spy-bot.

has worked miricals for me with cust.'s who can't seem to work them and go til thier pc won't even run at all.....run them all in those two orders back to back and collect $50.00 for an in home service call..

explain one more time how to update them and run them and wait for next easy money call to come in.

oh yea make sure you update them or you will miss a lot of spy-ware....i update each time i use it just to be sure

You will still run into some spyware/adware that they won't remove. Either look for the programs listed in the install/remove programs list in Windows or see if the programs identify them. Then run a search on google to find removal instructions. These will require registry editing to remove. Otherwise when you boot the machine tomorrow they are automatically reinstalled.

I prefer Spybot S&D. AdAware is so...odd.

~ Ad-Aware
~ Spybot - S&D
~ SpywareBlaster (protection against spyware)
~ PestPatrol (not free though)

I use both as there are some both miss that the other picks up and gets rid of.

Perfect combo. Several months back, PC Magazine ran an article on spyware and recommended the Spybot/Adware combination. I've used it ever since. Not only does it keep my system clean, I've used it on 2 different computers that were so littered with spyware that the computers were non-functional After these apps cleaned everything up, the computers worked fine. I instructed the users on running the programs several times a week, and also educated them on the dangers of not paying close attention to shady offers made on the internet, and installing bogus so-called freeware.
