SERIOUS HELP NEEDED! PLEASE HELP! re:Runtime Error

PLEASE take the time to read through this post. If you know the solution to the problem I am having, I would be extremely grateful if you could offer me any advice or help.

Whenever I try to open a link in a new window in Internet Explorer 6, using Microsoft ME, the link opens in a new window and begins to load up. The page then stops loading and the following error message appears:

------------------------------------------------------
MICROSOFT VISUAL C++ RUNTIME LIBRARY
------------------------------------------------------
Runtime Error!

Program: C:\WINDOWS\EXPLORER.EXE

Abnormal program termination

(OK)
------------------------------------------------------

The Error Box is fixed on top of the new window and I cannot use the page that has been loaded in the new window in any way.

If I press the OK button, all the Internet Explorer windows I am using close. Other applications I am using do not close, but the start bar at the bottom of the screen disappears and the desktop icons also disappear. I can still move the cursor and the desktop wall paper is still visible, but I cannot get them back or access any of the minimized applications I was using.

Alternatively, if I press 'ctrl +alt + del' and select 'end task' for the Internet Explorer window that the Error Warning Box has appeared on, all Internet Explorer windows close and the Desktop goes to Safe Mode. Other applications I am using remain open and I can still access them.

If anybody can offer me any ideas of how to solve this problem, I would be extremely grateful

Sounds like you need to run a virus scan and run a spyware removal program. Something is up withyour system and should not be doing that.

That's for replying. Could you direct me to some specific web sites or name a particular Spyware program that I should use. I'm not totally familiar with Spyware.

I'd really appreciate your help!
