your thoughts on my system...game wise
okay, here it is,not much, but and it is'n't finished yet...so give me your thoughts on if this will play games decent?
MSI 845PE Max MB
2.0 Ghz Celeron cpu
Asus GeForce4 Ti4200 128 X8 with artic HSF and HS
512 mg of PNY DDR333
13.5 gig IBM Fireball Plus
13.5 gig Maxtor (slave)
those are the essentials, have other components, not atributed to gaming thougth...plenty of fans (5 case fans) to be exact.
ok, go ahead and give me your thoughts...

Ditch the celeron CPU and get yourself a Intel P4 2.4C cpu. If you can't afford it a I would go the AMD route.
Celerons dont' have enough onboard cache for today's games.

had an amd system, all for gaming....sold it for mula....then bought another one, sold it for mula....just can't seem to keep a good one around...did some trading for some parts on this system, celeron being one of them...just to build a system again... just was curious while i wait on parts to arrive as to how it might perform....

You will need more hard drive space with the games that are coming out.
That video card will also be under a lot of stress if and when you play today's games.
Lastly, 512Mb of ram is sufficient, but games will studder with that amount. If you can upgrade that, I would, but thats the last thing you need.

What settings are you trying to play BF:V on?! The Intel onboard in my laptop can handle BF:V on 800x600. You must have a clunky system or something, TG.
I'd work on getting a better hard drive (any size as long as it's an 8MB cache drive) and then a better CPU. Follow that up with a video card and RAM.

Well you can't get a 2.4c because that is a 533FSB motherboard and the 2.4c's are 800FSB.
With your cash situation the Celeron is going to be your best choice since you ditched the AMD systems.
Second I agree on getting rid of the old HD's and pick up one single drive with either a 2MB or 8MB Cache. For what you use it for I really don't think you will notice a difference unless you are swapping large files alot and or pulling up large games from the HD.
Ram 512MB seems good to me as that is all I use and have had no problems & ram prices are on the rise right now.
Video - Looks good to me unless you want to get into some extreme gaming which I know you don't.

if u got the $$ go for this | Um, why buy a 9600XT when you can get a 9800 Pro for $25-30 more and have much more speed? Just a thought.

Your Ti4200 can handle NFSU. I had one and ran NFSU at max settings, but my processor is an amd 2600+ which makes a difference. Like others have already said, your processor is going to be holding you back.
[Edit]: If your planning on shelling out $173, you might as well save up another $30 and get a 9800 Pro.
