New cpu trouble

Built a new cpu and after about a week of using it it wont start up now. It wont boot up or anything now. The cpu fan turns on when I turn the power on but the video card and hard drive dont seem to be getting power. The CD-Rom drive gets power(from the light) but it doesnt open up or anything. Ive tried 2 psu's on it and both dont work so its not the PSU I know that. Im thinking the motherboard maybe died.

Athlon XP 2500+ Barton
EP-8k9a7i motherboard
512 mb pc3200 ram

did you have it overclocked at all? How were the temps? My first attempt would be to clear the bios, (take out the MB battery) leave it out for about a minute or so, then put it back in (of course with the pwr off) then see if it boots up.

Tried resetting the bios and still nothing. I was browsing the forum a little bit and see that it may be the processor. Can processors go in a week(didnt overheat) or did I maybe crack it installing it or something.

If you did all of that it may just be the PSU.....

Would a 900 mhz athlon chip work on the EP-8k9a7i motherboard? If it did I could atleast see if maybe its the processor or not.

good question...the only way to know is to try. Obviously it is a 100mhz fsb cpu as is the duron.

there is a list but I dont see the older athlons listed at all...but that doesnt mean they wont work http://www.epox.nl/english/support/a...n04-2-k7-e.pdf

Well I tried it and its doing the same thing so maybe its the mobo or its just that that processor doesnt work on the mobo.

Decided to RMA the processor and motherboard back to newegg instead of taking a guess and guessing wrong...
