Food HARD DRIVES (is splitting the way to go? )

i was going with the 160G one, but was advised that i would get more out of my system if i had, lets say 2x80G, instead of 1x160G hard drive. (they all would cost the same, so the price is not a factor). what are your thoughts on that? thanks!

depends on what u mean by "get more" out of it.

more speed? more space? more what??

what do you use the comp for mainly??

if its just general use then Id just get the one drive...if u have really important stuff to backup..maybe the two...and back stuff up to both in case one dies

1 drive is better.
-Possibility of more drives in the future (maybe 160 isn't enough?)
-Easier to defrag. Every time I try to defrag 2 drives at once, Windows freezes or crashes
-File moving is much easier. To cut something from one part of a drive to another takes about 3 seconds. Moving large files from one drive to another drive can take minutes.

Having 2 drives does not increase the speed of your system. For example, I've used kazaa with 2 drives before. Drive 1 was the Windows and programs drive, drive 2 was the files drive. Setting Kazaa (program on drive 1) to download files directly onto drive 2 causes incredible system lag. It's unlike anything you have ever seen.
Running Kazaa with just 1 drive is smooth; no system lag. Running it with 2 drives involved causes enormous lag.
