Need hard drive help

ok i just installed some ram ( 256 ddr ) thats works great......but i'm trying to install a hard drive which is giving me some trouble.



right now i have a maxtor 40 gb hard drive working and the new one is a 60 gb maxtor. i think i know what i need to do. its a little think that blocks the pines but lm not sure which one to block. also the 60 gb is the slave or the primary. thx for any help

There should be a diagram on the hard drive somewhere that shows which pins to jumper for which setting. With Maxtors, it's pretty safe to set both drives to "cable select" and put the master on the outside connector, the slave on the inner (they have to be in that order with the new controllers and for cable select to work).

umm my masters' jumper is c and my new slave is a what should i do?

Set them both to cable select. Put the master on the end of the IDE cable, and the slave on the middle connector. That should work.
