MAchine Keeps Rebooting Itself

Hi,

I am behind a firewall and in a LAN envorinment. I dont know why how but all of a sudden only today... like the 21st and 22nd of April, my machine just rebooted itself without even giving me a chance to log on to the network. I tried this again using the local Administrator profile anfd password and the same thning hapened. I then tried again with my normal Domain user name and was able to get in and use the thing for like a few moments, maybe 2/3 minutes, tried to run a scan disk in XP, what a sucker. Anyways, i dont know what hapened, but it just booted it self again. I was running nothing at the time it booted.

SO now I cant even have a chance to check whats going on even when booting in Safe mode the dame thing shows all this crap in dos mode, like disk or drive whatever (0) or whatever.....
doesnt look like it dos any thing this stupid safe mode, because i waited for a while and then the machine just booted again (normal i dont know?) I didnt see a log on for windows with the safe mode....just booted , is what i mean.

Anyways, does anybody know whats going on ?

Sounds like a virus... Unplug yourself from the network for 2 reasons: first being that you can infect others on the network, and second, if its a virus, and you can end up booting, you may have your computer left wide open.

If I were you, I would get that HD on another computer that can be used as a test machine. Dont be hooked up to the network with the test machine either. Add the possible infected virus HD to the test machine and boot up. Hopefully you already have a virus scanner installed on the test machine. Check for viruses, if none appear, then get online, and use a free scanner. If nothing still is not found, come back and let us know .

Hi again,

I dont know man, but today i was able to log in and stay logged in for like 1 hour at least. Apparently according to my knowledge they were loading patches for XP and 2000 on all the machines at my work.

I am just woundering how if I had zone alarm installed. I however have uninstalled Zone Alarm (did use it) as well as a few programs that i never used.

I dont get it.

I hope it doesnt hapen again.

Then again I used this WALLPAPER program that interferes with this ntkrnl file for boot up logos and it replaced that , so maybe it is fine now more because i uninstalled it.
