On the line

Ok...here's the lowdown:

LINUX

--------me---------- <The thin line

WINDOWS

It seems that the more memory I add to my computer, the crappier it runs. I recently went from 512 to 768mb... AND I reformatted.

Now windows wont allocate IRQ devices right, takes more time to boot up, takes FOREVER to open OE, and I only have 3 programs on the startup list.

When I just rebooted, ZoneAlarm has to reconfigure EVERYTHING like I just installed it.

Anyone else seen a trend with windows and memory?

Not I. I run a gig of memory with Windows XP without a problem.

What version of Windows are you using? Win98 doesn't work well with more than 512 meg of memory.

I couldn't even get my WinME machine to boot into Windows with 768mb. Ran WinME fine with 512mb. Runs fine with 768mb and Win2k.

have you tested your ram? maybe it's a hardware issue.

WinXP should run with 768mb, no problem. Remove all the ram but one piece and try it like that and see if it is ok. Try each piece by itself you should be able to determine if you have a defective ram module.
