Kids Make router into 4-port switch.

I used to share a high speed internet connection with a 4-port switch (Linksys) on 4 computers.

Now I am trying to share the same line with a 4-port router (Belkin).

I disabled DHCP in the router, so the remote DHCP server should assign the IP addresses?

But there seem to be problems.

While all the computers can access the net it ain't the same as a switch.

Q. Does the remote internet server just see the IP address of my router, or is there a way to make the Belkin router behave like a 4-port switch?

Are you using the WAN port for an uplink? If so try using one of the switch ports instead

It worked!

Golfcart:

That did the trick.

I needed to repower the Belkin 4-port router....and success!

This saves me buying a 4 port switch.

THANKS

Nate.
