sound problem on ECS L4VXA2 mobo

a friend of mine recently build a PC. he installed XP and the motherboard drivers. but eversince the installation, the sound output is only mono, left channel enabled only. I have asked him to re-install the drivers but still not fixed. he already checked the speaker setup in XP, the balance controls in volume menus but still cant fix the sound. any help will be appreciated. i'm a bit lost also. i recommended returning the board to the shop for RMA. but before he disassembles the PC, maybe you can give any more suggestions. thanks.

dax

I had the same problem with the sound. I was told that it could be either the stereo cable or the sound card. It turn out to be the stereo cable. Check to see if that could be the problem.

Well quite obviously it is neither a mainboard nor a sound card problem. Your speaker equipment is borked. End of story. I can't believe you've screwed about for ten days now and never tried another set of speakers. Or have you?
