please make use of the "edit" function at the bottom of your post to edit your thread. if you have new information or questions, and someone has already responded, then it's acceptable to post another reply.

welcome to TechIMO.

there are certain downloading programs that accellerate your dl speeds, but when you already suffer from a bottleneck due to slow data thoroughput, these programs have limited benefits.

a company that advertises a 400% increase in speeds while using the same technology as other companies in your area seems suspect. it's possible that in your country there aren't the same type of "false advertising" laws that we in the USA enjoy, which protect consumers from false statements describing services/products.

also there are some software programs that will store pages of the web sights that you go to often and when you click on the address to go there again it just loades the information that is already on your hard drive and giving you the effect that your doenloading the information faster.
there are some isp that will trick you into the same thing by savinf the data on there hard drive too,
there really is not way to speed up the connection as far as real speed is concerned like they are advertiseing it

roger on the Edit" protocol, stealthy.

what i'm referring to are stand alone apps advertised on the download test page at pcpitstop.com they claim to fine tune "hidden" windows settings. they sell for 30-60 bucks.

I'm thinking that most of the programs act as a proxy... aka they store pages in a cache so they load that much faster (off of your hard drive) but if they aren't updated then you coudl be looking at an old web page.

IE does caching automatically so most of the programs wouldn't be that much help.

Some programs may disable crap you will never use and all that stuff, but guy, don't spend $30 on something that you might not even notice a difference. Waste of Money IMO...

I have found that some of these 'speed up your connection programs' work very well. When on dialup however, they did absolutely nothing.

If any of you have every downloadede of GameSpot DXL Secure Delivery then you will know what on even 256 bit ADSL you can manage download speeds of about 250-300 KB/S

they dont work on dialup cause you cant speed up dialup. only way you can go faster is compressing images and stuff.
