Well u could put it in a friends computer as a slave drive, then right click on my computer and go to manage - disk management - then right click on the slave drive and format
Or u could go into your bios and set your computer to boot from CD, then put your OS CD (XP?) in the cd-rom drive and restart your computer after saving changes. If u go through and do new install and delete the partion etc. it will format you HD as it installs windows

Well what OS are u running? (Operating System, don't think u r dumb just some people don't know what it stands for)
NTFS is used for Windows NT formatting (XP etc.)
FAT32 is used for Windows 95, Windows 98, and OS2

Ok well most people will want to go to NTFS. Put your CD in the CD-rom drive and make sure that you set your computer to boot from CD
Here is the order
Insert CD; Boot: Boot from cd; Loads files; setup winxp - press enter; licensing - press F8;
ok after this go to like clean install or whatever, just follow it (relatively simple) the when it brings up a list with
NTFS (quick)
FAT32 (quick)
NTFS
FAT32
Just pick NTFS or FAT32 quick. Like I said most people go with NTFS which is what I recommend http://webopedia.com/TERM/F/FAT32.html http://webopedia.com/TERM/N/NTFS.html
GL I have to go to sleep , so if u haven't figured it out by tomorrow I will help u some more, GL

Go with NTFS. You will see much better performance, stability, and security IMO.

For me, the only possible reason for using FAT32 over NTFS would be if I was running a dual-boot system and one OS was only FAT-aware (e.g., W95, W98, WMe) and I absolutely had to access files on the WinXP or W2K partition while booted into one of the W9x OSes on a second, FAT partition. Even so, when I ran dual booted, I used NTFS for W2K/XP anyway. Gives me a greater sense of security and stability.
