Do you mean Personal Webserver? (NOT IIS)
Other than being overloaded with security problems... and if you're running it on win98 you can expect to get hacked if a 10 year old script kiddie finds it...

other than that it should be fine for basic web serving

Seriously though, I'd avoid using Win9x/ME as a webserver like the plague.

What OS are you using?

Have you ever thought of using Apache Web Server? I am currently using Apache, mySQL, and PHP. This is on WinXP.

Although its not the most secure thing in the world, if all you have is a basic webpage and computer isnt your Main machine I wouldnt worry about it. Basically, as long as you have nothing on there that anyone would actualy want to find, you are fine. I'd never suggest running a webserver at all on your main comp unless u have no alternative.

As shooter said, apache is a far more superior webserver, but your security issues will still be limited greatly if its running in win9x

Maybe if you have an old machine around you can put linux on it and use apache from there?

WinXP would better... are you running on NTFS filesystem?
Regardless if you decide to put a webserver onit do some research for security

if you can find an old PC (386 or better, doesn't matter if the hard disk drive has been stripped from it or not, containing 2 network cards) you can set up a CoyoteLinux firewall (free download, firewall software that's pretty simple to configure that can run entirely from a floppy diskette)

Hook your internet connection to the firewall PC. Hook the web server up to the less-secure DMZ network card, and your home PC network to the more-secure network card.

This is a cheap, yet fairly secure way to protect your home PCs while still allowing you to have a web server.

Hope this helps.
