Kids XP will not install on new system

Hello all:

I am trying to install XP on my new system. Upon boot, screens displays the Boot from CD: then "setup is inspecting your computer's hardware configuration" appears. This stays on for about 3-5 seconds then machine restarts on its own. I tried to troubleshoot by disconnecting drives and USB headers to attempt to find the problem but I am having no success. Could it be the PS? I have an Antec case with a 300W supply.

Thanks in advance.

See if the machine will boot to a Win98 floppy. Check your HDD cables. Had a machine do this until I found I had bad HDD controller

reseat your ram

if the heatsink was not on correctly, then pull the cpu out and have it checked, it only takes a few seconds without the heatsink to distroy it competly.

I am thinking RAM as well. Can you try another brand? I sense incompatibility or bad Ram if the CPU is still working properly.
Since I am an Antec fan myself, the one you have may not be enough or failing. Is it a SmartPower Truepower or regular version? Please post the max amp ratings on the 3.3 5 and 12 volt rails. These can be found on the sticker on the pSU itself. Can you swap PSU's?Did you use the four prong connector on the board as well?

I made a backup copy of my windows xp cd(with nero copy cd option)and tried to install on my new system I built with the backup cd. It would not work. It did exactly as you stated. Are you using the original xp cd?

I did find a site on the web that showed me how to make a copy for my own use. Now it works.
