Is it ok to leave the side panel off the case for ventilation or bad idea?

it interrupts the planned airflow route through the case, but i NEVER have the sides on my case and have had no ill effects aside from maybe a slightly higher noise level.

My friend leaves the side off of his case all of the time and the only ill effects are a little louder and a little more dust but thats not really a big deal

my oppinion is that more AMD users tend to leave their cases' side panels off..

depends on your case also, as my chieftec case has a front intake 80mm fan, rear top 92mm exhaust, rear slot fan(exhaust), THEN, my removable side panel has a 92mm intake fan and my other side has a 80mm intake fan for the HD's. It cooled my AMD2500 great. So i leave my panel on due to the 92mm intake that blows on the pci slots and video card cpu etc.
