P.C Acting up

Hi all,

Just need a bit of advice regarding my p.c,

It keeps juddering, if i'm playing music and i open a website the music stutters, if i move the mouse it moves very slow.

I've ordered a new mobo just hoping it's that, any ideas?

I have:

466mhz
12gb hd
win 98 se
132mb ram
32mb graphics

Cheers

Jublee, did you install all the device drivers?
Do check, right click 'My Computer' and go to properties. Then click on the Hardware Manager and see if you have anything thats got a red X or Yellow ! mark.

maybe a bit more ram would help, but if you're getting a new mobo, then a new processor to go with it would be lovely, jublee . it's an older slower system you have at the mo'. you could try using a different media player in the meantime, and make sure you have dma enabled on your hard drive from the device manager, if your drive supports it. also, if your drive is an ata type, then make sure you use an ata cable if your mobo supports ata.

open your device manager (windows key and break or right click on my computer and select properties. select device manager. double click on disk drives. double click on generic ide disk. select settings. make sure dma is checked. do this for your cdroms, too. click ok back to your desktop. restart your 'puter. the dma (direct memory access ) setting should allow your drives to transfer data to and from memory faster.
