cd r/w won't recognize blank media x2

I have an HP desktop with a HP DVD WRITER / CD WRITER COMBO. i also have a Compaq Presario laptop with a DVD / CD WRITER.

Both computers will read a cd with info on it, but neither will recognize blank media. I have tried over 50 blank cd's in each drive and they are not recognized. I am using Memorex, Pengo and no-name cd's.

Any suggestions?

Thanks, Bobbie

What is your burning software? Perhaps the details on the DVD burners would help, too.

Send a message via Yahoo to muno
Put a blank disc in, start up your burning software, find 'Media information' option somewhere and click it.
What does it say?

One thing that might be messing things is directcd, and that extremely old easy cd creator, does it even support your burner?

Don't ask me to explain, but this AM, both computers are recognizing the blank media. I did nothing different.

I am going to upgrade to EZ CD Creator 5.0 Basic as I have it but never used it.

Thanks, Bobbie
