Kids Protecting My Wireless Connection

Hey ppl,
I just got a Linksys Wireless-B 2.4Ghz Broadband Router. And I was wondering how I can protect my internet connection between the two computers. Does anyone here know how I can do this?

Are you currently using the wireless feature? If not, you can log into the router and disable that feature. If your not sure how to log in, you should refer to your manual or just use this IP: 192.168.1.1 and the password is defaulted to: "admin".

If you are using the wireless feature for your router, you will need to ask one of the many experts here on the forums. I don't want to point you in the wrong direction.

The Linksys Wireless - B routers come with WEP.
Go into your router settings from a hard wire connected PC.
Open a broswer window.
Type "http://192.168.1.1" .. then enter
Default username is none.
Default password is "admin".

On my Linksys on the front page is has the WEP Settings.
Make WEP mandatory.
Click WEP Key Setting.
Choose 64 or 128 bit Encryption
Enter Passphrase - This is what the router uses to generate the WEP Keys.
Click Generate.
Write down the WEP Keys. <you will only really need 1 key>
On your wireless computer(s) you will need to setup WEP and enter the key twice.
Done.

Ok I went to my wireless security section. Clicked Enable wireless security. Then there is Security mode. WHich has some options. 1.) WPA Pre-Shared Key. 2.) WPA Radius. 3.) Radius. 4.) WEP. From the post above you use WEP, correct? Should I click WEP also?? I think yes. lol. Wha do I put in the Passphrase?

WPA is better than WEP.

I dont know how to configure WPA.. my router doesnt have WPA.

The passphrase is whatever word you want it to generate the key with.
