santa cruz problems?

dell 4600 windows 2000XP turtle beach santa cruz
I just recieved this sound card, bought from amazon and I cannot get any sound out of it. I did not recieve a cd but I did download the driver off of the santa cruz website and that got the Santa Cruz volume settings installed. I have logitech 5300 speakers. When I put the sound card into the slot, are there any other connections that need to be made inside the computer to the sound card? Also my previous sound provider was SoundMAX intregated digital audio, it came with my 4600 dell.Should I unistall this first? I have all the settings under santa cruz, and even under the sound/audio devices properties the sata cruz logo is up and everything is set to santa cruz. but it still won't make a sound. In the hardware tab under Sounds and Audio Devices, all the devices say they are functioning properly.
Are there any ways I can solve this problem?
Thanks
Dave

You should have gotten a CD with it to install it. If you didn't, send it back to amazon with a heavy complaint.

You don't need the CD. The Turtle Beach site should have everything you need and it's up-to-date. Did you make sure you downloaded the correct driver for your OS from their site? Also make sure the onboard audio is disabled on your mobo, and remove the drivers. When you're sure you've done all that, reinstall the Santa Cruz drivers and see what happens. If nothing still works the card itself might be bad. Let me know what happens.

And yes, you should have uninstalled the previous drivers!

You need to go into the motherboards BIOS to disable the onboard sound hardware. Not sure on your Dell but most of the time pushing the delete key at the post screen does it.

Crux problems

The card was nonfunctional. I ordered another one, and I got it installed and working in 5 minutes. Santa cruz sound card along with logitech 5300s are a great combination.
