Help - Nero/burning

I recently got Nero burning ROM to help me with my file storage, and I don't understand anything about this stuff.

What I want to do is burn some movie files that I have onto DVD's (no, not illegal copies of movies :P) basically I have bunch of .avi's mostly. I want to put them onto these DVD's that I have, but the options in Nero are total Greek to me. I just want to be able to put the .avi's onto the DVD, put the DVD in the drive, open the folder and view the .avi's right from the disk.

These are the options I don't understand..

First of all, do I want:
DVD-ROM (ISO)
DVD-Video
DVD-ROM (UDF)
DVD-ROM(UDF/ISO)

Next, what is Multisession or No-multisession? I think I understand what this means, but I'm not sure how it will effect things.

Lastly (thank goodness) do I want to check "determine maximum speed"? I don't understand what that means..

Thanks

First, are you working with DVDs or CD-RWs? In other words, you do have a dvd burner, or just a cd burner?

Multisession just means you want to leave you options open to add more files at a later time. Choosing no multisession means the disk closes out, gets write-protected.

Determine the max speed just lets the software check and see what the limitations are to your hardware; what the max speed allowed is, considering your writer and media. You may have cd-r disks that can write at 48X, but if your burner has a max write speed of 24X, the max speed of the write is 24X. If you manually tell it to burn at 48X, you may end up with a coaster!

I think there are two different ways to open Nero. One gets you to the "complicated" interface, and one opens (Burning Rom, I think) a more simplified one. I've not messed with a dvd burner, but if it's like the cd-rw version, it'll give you a few choices only.

I would think of the choices listed, you'd use DVD-video, but check the help section for "glossary of terms."

Send a message via Yahoo to muno
You would use 'dvd-rom(iso)' when putting regular data files on dvd.

If you were to burn dvd-video, it would start and convert (if it can) your avis to mpeg2 dvd compliant form.
