Dual Chanel memory not working
Hello,
I have the following system...
Athlon Barton XP2500+ Overclocked to 210 x 10.5 = 2200 Mhz @ 1.75 volts
Asus A7N8X Deluxe Motherbaord
2 x 512 Mb PC3200 RAM Crucial (Identical Pair)
FX5600 Graphics
I am having trouble getting the system running stable when using dual chanel memory setup at anything more than the default FSB speed which is 166 Mhz.
When I up the speed to 200 Mhz FSB I get many errors and blue screens and the system will not boot into windows.
At default and rated speeds, memtest86 runs for 6 hours with no problems found when I run it in single or dual chanel mode. The problems only occur when running in dual chanel at higher speeds.
I have tried upping the voltage from 2.6 to 2.9 whith no difference. The system is stable for 12 hrs of prime95.
Any ideas what may be causing this?

Well, it's the overclocking, obviously. Remember this is a YMMV business. If your extra mileage is zero, well, bad luck, but nothing to complain about.
Is your default setup using CPU/RAM 166/166 or 166/200?

what is the revision of yer motherboard??
Can be found under theagp connector.
If it is lower then 2.0, say 1.06, then you need to update yer bios to the latest to get support for 200Mhz fsb.

The motherboard is the revision 2.0 model with the latest 1007 Bios that was installed when I got the board a few months ago (warranty replacement)
Opps, I did not make my post obvious that the RAM i rated at PC3200 and runs at PC3200 (400 Mhz)speed in single chanel mode fine (plus a little more for the overclock) however, to get it to run stable in dual chanel mode, I have to underclock the memory to PC2700 speeds (333 Mhz)
The RAM should run stable in dual chanel mode at the rated speed.

Have you tried running it under the SPD settings for the memory? It will auto detect the recommended jedec settings for that module you are running. It would be best to try it and see if that works so you know that it isn't the timings being set to tight that the cas settings might be set incorrect and unable to run properly and ends up with errors due to that.

Yes, The memory is currently set to SPD to ensure reliable, error free operation. The only thing that I have changed is the voltage which did not do anything.
I have since checkd the SPD data using ADIA32 and they are identical modules so I doubt there is a problem there plus I dont think you actually need identical modules to run in dual chanel.

The RAM that I have is not on the list but I did select it on the Crucial website by serching for my motherboard so they have obviously tested it and works fine otherwise they would remove it from the list.
I know several people where they have used dual chenel memory with no problems but I am unsure if that was on the QVL table.
I did originally have a RAM problem when i first bought the board when was soon sorted by getting a 512 Mb DIMM on the list. The use of the compltuer has changed quite a lot since and the total of 1 Gb of RAM has helped things along a little.
Also... I noticed the new modules only have chips on one side and the older module had chips on both sides, does this make any difference?

Welp, looks to me that your ram is crap... Its not gonna work in dual channel mode at that speed.
