I need help choosing a video card
I just finished doing a clean install of XP and apparently my video card is no longer good. Actually its a good thing because it was in desperate need of updating. Unfortunately, I know nothing about video card lingo. I have been trying to educate myself but it is too complex. I just need a mid-level card for average on-line gaming. My present card is a (now dont laugh) Sis 6326 8mb AGP card. I know anything will be an improvement. Someone directed me to the following site to purchase one:
http: http://www.newegg.com/app/manufactor...alog=48&DEPA=0
However , in the 1x,2x,4x AGP category there are about a dozen in the $30-40 range and then it jumps to $120. Can anybody give me some advice on type/brand/compatibility. Anything would be appreciated.

Well, let's start off by finding out what games you are planning on playing and how much you want to spend.

A decent card for $48.50 w/free shipping is the eVGA GF4 440 MX SE. We have one in the wife's machine and it plays everything we throw at it very nicely. (Counter Strike, Diablo II, TSO, etc.)

Sorry, about the double post, I changed my mind about where to post at the last second and hit back, but apparently it went through. My motherboard is K7M 1.XX ASUSTEK Computer Inc. I'm not sure what games the kids play. I'm working on my sisters computer at my house. But basically the most she would like to spend is around $60. So whatever is the best for that price range. The kids will have to live with it. If there is any other specific info you need let me know.

The K7M is older than DDR and only supports SDRAM. A quick search on Google for 'K7M' will get you more information.
For $60, this is the card I'd probably get. There's a Radeon 9200 for a couple dollars more, and generally I'm a Radeon fan, but I've had good luck with the Gainward GeForce cards in the past.
