Internet Connection Sharing

Hi,

Can anyone help me to see if I can get ICS working between the PC's on my home network.

Presently I just have my Desktop machine with Win 2k Pro conencting to the Internet via AOL Dialup. I have my Laptop a Sony Vaio running Win XP Pro hooked to my Desktop with a crossover cable.

I intend to add another Desktop when I get around to getting sorted. I will get ADSL one day just not today as I don't know if we are going to move house in the next 6 months and everyone wants a 12 month contract here.

Cheers

Hi,

Great Site GZ3.

One unfortunate thing about having AOL for an ISP (and I have been reluctant to slag it off up to now) is that the software itself doesn't seem to even know what all parts of it are doing at the same time.

I can't view the properties for the AOL Connection in Network and Dialup Connections. When I highlight it with a right click it comes up with the drop down menu the same as the LAN one and another ISP I use ( I have to pay by the minute for that one and it has 2 hr timeouts) I click on properties and nought happens. There is even a line in the left side of the window showing that the Connection is disconnected ( It shows that while I am typing this).

I tried this a while ago and gave up. I was just hoping someone here may have had a work around for it.

Cheers

AOL is the nightmare from hell that people pay for. They use a custom "dial up networking" setup that is different from the standard Windows DUN so that may be causing problems with your ICS configuration. Try running a Google search for "ICS with AOL".
