Fedora C2 T2 won't cd install

This is getting very frustrating. I cannot get fedora c2 t2 to install from cd.
md5-check; boot from cd-check; fedora cd1- check; iso burnt properly (alcohol & nero)-check;

can't get the install to start-check!

Cannot figure out wth is wrong.

As an afterthought, remember reading somewhere, someone with the same problem relettered their optical drive to "d" to get it to work; I'm on F(liteon dvd/cdrw) & G(liteon cdrw). I don't know if that makes any sense.

Suggestions?

How is the install not starting? Is it just sitting at a blank screen, or passing on to windows, or "no operating system found" or what?

Message is always "disk boot failure".

I think I've narrowed the problem to either the drive letter or the sw-ide drivers from nvidia.

Boots fine on another system..Grrrrrrrrrrr!

Weird thing is that mandrake & libranet will install fine(from cd boot) with my current setup. Fedora won't!

Thats it; I'm done. Tried everything I can think of.

A7N8X-D
xp3200
2x512 @3500
ti4200
80g max, liteon dvd/cdrw, liteon cdrw

Rolled ide drivers back to windows 2.70 box = 0
put in a new drive to boot from = 0
loaded setup defaults = 0

This box just says no to fedora.

Hmm, well your windows ide drivers should make no difference, since at boot it is before any device drivers like that have even loaded. The only thing I can think of is that you have a bad CD ROM drive or that you need to disable DMA for the CD ROM (use PIO mode or something).

The previous nvidia ata controller driver (2.44) release was the source of drive problems for many people. However, the latest release (2.5) has behaved quite well.

I tried your suggestion of running pio but that also didn't work.
Also tried a different drive w/no-go.

Thanks for the suggestions Sam.

I'll slide another box in and give fedora a go.

I read about other people having a problem booting from the test 2 install disc, one work around that was working for some people, was booting from fedora core 1 install cd then at the media check inserting the test2 disc and continuing from there.

Never could get it to go on main comp. However, installed nicely on another box alongside w2k & mandrake. Still have no idea what the bug was.

Mixed bag review so far. Some good things; some broken. I'll stick it out for a while.
From my (noob) experience, libranet has really been the slickest to work with so far. Useful, easy to configure, mantain, & update.

Just preparing for the day to quit using windows as my primary os.
