EZ Firewall
So I just got around to installing that stuff that came with the Windows update CD, and I installed that firewall that came with it. Now, however, I cant get to my other computer's files that are over the network. What must I do to be able to get into that computer again? I see all those custom firewall settings in the "Trusted Zone Security" but I dont know which to choose.
Thank you.

First of all, I think that firewall is crap. The only program that is worth to have in your computer from that CD is the eTrust EZ Antivirus. If I were you I would uninstall that firewall and use Zone Alarm or Sygate instead. But thats just my opinion.

Well I hate using firewalls to begin with. I just tried this for the heck of it because it was free. It's nice, though, because it blocks the ads that come up on sites. Namely this one. I guess I'll just end up uninstalling this.

Someone has written in a post on one of the forums I visit, that the firewall that is in EZ Armor is Zone Alarm. Troubleshooting FAQ on the Zonelabs website should be helpful if that's the case. May also be one on the CA eTrust website.

Thats one of the problems. Its a copy of Zone Alarm, but with a different name apparently. I would just uninstall it and start using the free version of Zone Alarm or Sygate. Even if you hate using firewalls man,you have to. Nowadays no one is secure. Firewall is needed.

Has anyone tried deleting this bloddy thing? Everytime I go in to delete it, the uninstaller freezes and won't delete. I would just delete it off the hard drive, but I have no idea where I installed it.

Yes it is a copy of zone alarms and has always worked fine in the 6 months I have had it. In fact it worked too well. I had all sorts of problems trying to setup my webserver because my firewall was always blocking everything.
You need to open the program settings window then go into Firewall tab and make sure the trusted zone security is set to medium.
Also click on the advanced tab down the bottom, (Under blocked zone security) then down the bottom of that window under network settings select "Ask which zone to put networks in upon detection".
If you want to delete it you should be able to in the add remove programs section of the control panel. It will be listed as EZ armor suite or similar.

zonelabs.com has a page on uninstalling - I'm sure they probably have it copied on the eTrust site. That's one of the few drawbacks of ZA. Uninstalling it can be a bear if not done correctly from the beginning.

Seems kind of lame to me, I uninstalled my free zone alarm and antivirus in aticipation of checking out this trial offering from microsoft.
What a waste of time, this re badged version of zone alarm is less stable than my free version, and there is certainly nothing impressive about the antivirus either.
I dumped that xxx and went back to my previous setup.
