IE isn't working right

For some reason whenever a link opens into a new window. The new window won't load the page. It opens the window, it's just that the window just sits there and doesn't go to the page. Anyone know how to fix this?

I've got IE 6 with all the service packs and updates. Thanks.

I donno...but would be interested in finding out. My IE 6 is doing something similar.. but just once. When I first boot into Windows (98SE) and go online, click on the IE icon..the IE screen begins to take shape but not filled in at all..mostly blank..it just sits there for about 10 seconds..then..modem activity and the website is loaded. All subsequent browsers load normally.

I am reasonably sure mine came about when I installed something...but what?

I had the same problem. I solved it by installing SP1 for XP and all the critical updates for windows and for IE.

I'm trying to update but I can't. I go to the windows update, and when i click Install, the box open but it doesn't download it. It just says "Preparing to Download..." and never does anything.

I've been having similar problems. I just turned in my comcast modem and installed a new Linksys cable modem. Now when I try to go into certain web sites like ebay it just times out and gives me the ie error page. Other web sites work fine. I tested ebay at work and it is fine so I know it's not the site itself.

I believe your problem is the security and privacy settings in IE is set too high. I had similar problems with certain websites until I lowered the security settings in my IE.

The privacy settings concern certain cookies..and some websites will not let you is if you have cookies turned off or whatever.

From your browsers tool bar (especially IE) click on TOOLs > Internet Options > Security and/or Privacy.

Bovon, I thought the same thing so I turned all the security to low or default and it still wouldn't work. I deleted all history, temp files and cookies too just to make sure it was clean. It was working just fine a few days ago. I think it might be the new modem but how could the modem cause that????

Send a message via Yahoo to muno
This should fix it, that is, if the problem is when you right click a link and select 'open in a new window'.

Have you run an updated AV program on your comp? I have dealt with similar problems and found that The people had viruses that were clogging their network through DDOS attacks. This caused some networks to block their ip adds, to reduce traffic.

I have the latest AVG virus scan and I did a full scan that was clean. I also have BlackIce firewall running. I even tried with BlackIce and AVG shut off to see if they were blocking me, but it still didn't work.
