AIM and trojans/virus/ect

I have a 4 computer network at home.....and all machines are covered with AVG protection.

My daughter loves the aol instant messaging with her friends. Her machine is no longer part of the network.

Today I just put together a new machine for her.....its an older one and has ME on it. I d/l every critical update that windows had, I installed Adaware, spybot and have cw shredder on the machine also. I immunizzed with Spybot and updated all of these programs current.

She has been on the machine for a total of 15 minutes and the machine is just full of junk again....lol. She goes to these icon sites and when she did...AVG just went ballistic on me.

My question is......besides keeping her off these sites.....is their anything I can do that will prevent this from happening?

Thanks.

Make her use a browser other than IE. Most of the crapware gets intalled through activex which is an IE only thing.

www.mozilla.org

and you can imunize alot more with spyware blaster, good program for blocking known bad activex controls.

Also, try having more than 1 antivirus program. Look through CDs that came with your hardware, you'll probably find some good software. A few of my motherboard CDs have Norton Antivirus and PC-Cillin on them.

I dl'd mozilla first, installed it and liked it...it was a little slow though and when I saw the reply about opera I tried that one and it is just plain fast. Both of them prevented any trojans getting in on her favorite sites though.....and thanks for the great advice.

I also installed spywareblaster and immunized.
