Well why dont you do that ?

Boot from the Win98 install cd and use fdisk or format to create an fat32 partition. Just in case you dont know ntfs wont work with win98.

Yes, you just need to create a FAT partition for it to toss its temporary files.

Easiest way to install WIN98 is as follows

Fdisk the drive and reboot

Boot with CD_ROM support

Change to WIN98 directory on the CD then format the C: drive using the command Format C:/u

make a directory on the C: drive called WIN98 and copy all the files form the same directory on the CD

Change to the C: drive go to WIN98 directory and run setup

This will speed up the installation and an added bonus is that when you reboot for the first time the system is in safe mode and cannot see the CD-ROM but can still load all it needs from the WIN98 dir

Also when istalling anything at a later date if the system requires the Windows98 CD it does not prompt you for it, it just goes to the WIN98 dir on the C: drive and installes waht it wants. Therefore no searching about for your CD that you filed somewhere
