Help Please

I have 2 laptops that I am trying to network together. I DO NOT want to share the internet with them since one is my DJ laptop and one is my home one. How do I connect the 2 together to share the files back and forth? I have been reading about a connection cable and was wondering if just a normal Ethernet cable will work between the 2. Thank you for your assistance.

once you have them cabled to each other, (as long as you are in the same workgroup) you can just right click on any folder, go into the sharing option, and allow sharing... then on the other computer you can view workgroup computers, double click on the computer you allowed sharing and you will see that folder and can click and drag

How do I determine what workgroup I am? I am pretty good with computers considering my old desktop was hand built, but I have no idea what you are talking about

you could also use the IR ports to manually transfer files if it's ionly a few you need to transfer
