Rewritable DVDs, how many times can I write?

How many times can a rewritable DVD be written? Is it in the range of 1-10? 100? 1000?

DVD-RW (Digital Versatile Disc - Re-recordable)
A version of the write-once DVD-R format that can be written to up to 1,000 times. The Pioneer DVR-A05U drives can record on single-sided 4.7GB DVD-RW discs. DVD-RW discs can be accessed in set top DVD players and computers equipped with DVD-ROM drives.

Theoretically maybe a thousand times, but... I wouldn't trust even a well-made DVD-RW past maybe 50-100 complete writes. That's a stretch, I wouldn't trust it past maybe 20 if the data was really important.

I'll disagree. I do re-writing tasks almost everyday. I very rarely replace a re-writable because it's past its prime.
