Linksys WRT54G Firmware Upgrade

I have a Linksys WRT54G wireless router, and I'm looking at some of the Linux firmware upgrades people have made for it, like the ones from Sveasoft, Mini WRT54G, and so on, that alow a lot more of the advanced features than the shipping firmware has. This is my first go at this, so I was hoping I could get some input on which one is the best, and why.

Any tips or words of advice on what I should look out for during the process would be great too.

I'd appreciate any input.

Thanks guys,
Kaziah

Be VERY VERY careful. I gave into temptation and I am now using some "borrowed" bandwidth before running to walmart to replace my apparently blown up router.

It was my bonehead mistake, I didnt fully read the instructions and did it to myself.

Here is what I was working off of: http://members.cox.net/wrt54g/

just to vouch on what Junkie said, know what you are doing when you attempt this. read the instructions because you will kill the router if you do it wrong. a reset wont fix it

i know i killed mine

Yep, there's a definite gain/loss analysis to be done here. Are the added benefits of running Linux on your router worth the chance of turning it into a paperweight? SJ and GZ3 are no neophytes when it comes to this stuff and they both crashed and burned. Methinks it's not a good bet to mess with it.

Sure it's worth it. Thats how you learn. Just make sure you can afford the lesson before you start.

Sorry, I've been gone most of the weekend and I just read my mail.

Sveasoft is where I downloaded mine at:

It worked beautifully! I'm lovin' it!
