using mspaint

How do I save a drawing in mspaint. Clicked edit but paste option is grayed out. 'Paste from.....' option takes me to the file folder but I get a default folder and can't proceed from there. Drawing file is in Visual C++ 6.0.

generally file>save as or file>save. if you are trying to paste a new image into paint, then make sure it is in the clipboard buffer eg press print screen key for a screenshot or right click and copy or cut a picture.

Thanks for your help. Can't get rid of a tool after selecting it, eg eraser, line. Pressed escape key but that doesn't help. Just exit the application?

in paint, right click doesnt seem to work...but you can still do it using "ctrl v" for paste.

----

to get rid of tool dont you just choose another tool?

hey john, you are not quite right, right click DOES work in ms paint, only it paints in the second selected colour (color for the transatlantic crowd ) rather than bringing up the usual context menu with the paste options. if the tool doesn't change when you select a different one, then suspect a corrupt executable file.

and btw, isus. www.gimp.org will get you to the website of an excellent image program. i've never tried the windows version but the linux version is very advanced, and this program is free, open source software. just in case your copy of mspaint is borked and you can't be bothered to extract a new copy from your windows cd. if you prefer to pay for your software, paintshop pro is really good, and a bit cheaper than the other quality commercial offerings such as photoshop, i think.
