Bios/Mobo can't be updated.

I have the correct mobo number, and I went to the gigabyte website to download the drivers for the GA7-VTXE+.

When I try to run the program I am faced with a bios-like screen, and three error messages in succession:
"The chipset is not supported".
"The flash part is not support".
"Make sure the flash is not protected".

I go under "chipset list" and the only chipset listed is an Intel brand, number 8086.
My CPU is an AMD Athlon 1900+.

Just to be sure I tried using the update software for the GA7-VTXE, but that didn't work either (and I'm positive I have the GA7-VTXE+ based on the pictures they put next to each model).

Any help would be appreciated.

I'm a bit confused on what you are trying to do. Are you wanting to install the chipset drivers or flash the bios?

If you are trying to install the chip set drivers you do not flash them. They come in an exeacutable file that you download and run. You can get the chipset drivers here.

If you are trying to flash the bios then you can get the bios here. There are instructions on how to flash your bios near the top of the page.

Make sure that you have the correct type of motherboard. These chipset and bios links are for the GA-7VTXE+.

Ok, I downloaded and updated the drivers.

What I have are the bios upgrades... And This problem persists even after upgrading the chipset.

2. If your BIOS is flash protected, please do not enable BIOS Flash Protection under Advanced CMOS Setup (AMI BIOS) or Advanced BIOS Features (AWARD BIOS) in BIOS menu.

Check to make sure your bios is not flash protected.

Also, there are 3 methods of flashing this board. Which method are you using?

Are you positive about the motherboard model? You can download Aida32 personal edition and get the model from it.
If you flash the wrong bios it will ruin your motherboard.

Aida32

I'm 100% certain of the Mobo model.

I'm using an executable file that I downloaded to flash the bios.

I checked bios and under "Flash protection" it has only the settings of "Auto" and "Enabled". I can't even disable it.
It's currently on Auto.

I checked your manual and the bios setting is correct.

Are you using a boot disk to start your pc before using the flash utility?

(I've had some work come in so I may be a bit slower in responding.)

No worries, take your time.

I am not using a boot disk. I'm not even sure what it is...

You use a boot disk to start your pc into DOS. From there you start your flash utility and flash the bios.

What operating system are you using? If you are using Win2k/XP is your file system Fat32 or NTFS?

I searched around on that website and found that they have third party programs that will do it for you.
I tried it, and Sandrasoft is no longer reporting that I have outdated bios.

Although it still says my Video BIOS is severely outdated... I looked all over the nvidia site and found no such thing for my Geforce 3 Ti500.

Sandrasoft also says that my SMBIOS/DMI information may be inaccurate.
It says to use the DMICFG tool, but I don't have a clue what they are talking about.
