Multiple Replacements in Word 97

I'm running MS Word 97 on a Windows 98 machine and am looking at a daunting project:

I have hundreds of documents (order forms, actually) and am going to have to increase all the numbers (prices, actually) in them all by 10%.

Is there a way to create a MACRO in WORD97 to do multiple replacements such as changing all occurrences of 49.50 to 54.50, all occurrences of 48.50 to 53.50, etc so I don't have to manually run each replace command for each possible price?

Alternatively, does anyone know of a user forum dedicated to Word or other MS products where I can go?

Thanks in advance,

Terry

not entirely sure, but i bet you could whip up a php script (or kindly ask someone to) that will open all the files and do what you want. im not sure if techimo has a script request forum, but i know that tutorialforums.com does. good luck with that

Thanks, Sice. It is not necessary to do all of them at once. I plan on changing each one as needed. I was thinking something in the way of a Word 97 Macro but I don't know how they work.

Thanks, MegalosSkylaki. I thought THIS was the "Applications & Operating Systems" section of this forum. Did I miss another one?

Thanks to both, Terry.

You sound as if you set up your forms incorrectly. I'm not an expert, but fields (such as prices) should be some sort of merge or import. That is, there is a separate file with the prices that gets merged to the document.

Every item and price is unique. The forms themselves are order forms for the rental of costumes for stage productions.

So, there is an order form (ie, document) for HELLO DOLLY, another for FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, another for KING LEAR, etc. An item and it's price in HELLO DOLLY will occur nowhere else but in that document. Hence, if I created a database, each item would be referenced only once in a single document and nowhere else. So creating a database would not increase efficiency.

... but thanks for the thought. I've had it myself.
