Outdoors any burning software + Liteon LTR-52327S CDRW + CDR's = lots of coasters

I'm having alot of trouble burning cds without making coasters. Both nero and Alcohol 120% failed to burn a iso of mandrake i got, resulting in a useless cd. I finally managed to get the 3 mandrake 10 cds made with Burn4free, though i later made a coaster with it when attempting to burn a audio cd. windows iTunes also made a coaster when i tried to burn a playlist created from an album I got on the music store. I dont know what the deal is. It's obviously not completely impossible to make cds (mandrake ones), but something is causing the process to quit.

I did go to liteon's website and got the newest firmware and flashed it to the CDRW but that didn't fix the problem.

if your useing the latest version of nero with burn proof, and a good quality cd blank, there is no way it will fail and not tell you a reason why it failed, nero will display a screen showing the burn progress and if a problem arises, you will see it, and it will tell you it failed, usally a coaster is becaused you did something wrong. and the burnning process did not like it.

I got a lot of coasters with my free-after-rebates CDs. They only work for music CDs if you burn them at 2x :/

And I wouldn't even trust them for data.

What are you system specs? Cause my old burner combined with my old computer would not burn something right unless I did nothing else on the computer during that time.
Make sure that you are not doing alot of stuff with your computer unless you have a good amount of RAM and a faster CPU. With my new computer, I can burn and do what ever without errors.

Check in nero info tool & make sure aspi is installed.
Check to see if dma is enabled.
Upgrade to latest firmware.
If it's an nvidia board, there were some cd burning issues w/certain ide driver. upgrade to latest if you are using nvidia platform.
Maybe a bad drive? Or upgrade nero?

bout all I can think of.

It is an nvidia board. Not a problem with system slowing down, got a 2.2ghz Athlon XP barton and a gig of pc3200. The problem is my slow dialup connection makes it a chore to download drivers and stuff, plus I cant do much of anything on the internet while thats happening.

where's dma on the infotool? aspi installed and working properly

To enable dma: Device manager> ide controllers>secondary>transfer mode - pio/dma. Check to see if it"s in dma mode.

Getting divers w/dialup IS an ugly task.

Hope that does it.

I'm using the same drive w/o problem.

I noticed a new firmware update just added.

http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1600

Might help.
