USB 2.0 Problems

I have a K7N2 motherboard by MSI. I installed Win2k and everything is fine except the usb ports. Under device manage they are listed as "unknown device" and when I try to install the drivers I get this error "The installation failed because a function driver was not specified for this device instance." What the hell is that?

Send a message via ICQ to JohnE.
Have you gotten all the relevant Windows updates from Windows Update? I seem to recall some sort of USB 2.0 fix for both Win2K and WinXP.

May be a stretch, but did you DL the latest drivers, or use the CD?

There is some kind of disagreement with VIA and MS about USB 2.0, and they are a PITA to get working. There is a specific patch for it, I will google around some.
But... If I acutally read, I see its an NForce, nevermind.

I used the cd first, then downloaded the latest drivers.

Did you install the USB 2.0 drivers off your motherboard installation CD or were they downloaded drivers?

I have both the VIA USB 2.0 drivers and the W2K 2.0 drivers from my NF7-S nForce mobo zipped up. Let me know if you would like to try them.
