My Documents folder open

This is strange... suddenly now, when I boot up XP or reboot, the My Documents folder is open on the desktop, no new software or configuration changes... magic I guess.

TrojanHunter scan and NOD32 scan don't show anything amiss.

Does anyone have any idea how to get it to stop doing this?

check your startup folder, i've accidentally dragged stuff off the desktop into it lol, also if you are logging out with it open and your windows saves window / applications open it can happen, i can't remember where those options are

It's not in the Startup folder and I don't log on or log off in XP since I'm the only user.

logging on and off happens automatically in your case when you start up and shut down, make sure the folder is closed, shut down and restart and see if it dissapears.

Closing the folder and restarting doesn't help either nor the registry tweak to close folders that Bill posted.

check in the 'All Users' folder in the 'Documents and Settings' folder.. look for the startup forlder there and see if the document folder shorcut is there. delete it then restart.

I just repaired the same problem on a WinME system. C:\windows\system was open every time the pc was started.
Go to start> run> type in msconfig, then go to the start tab and see if there are any entries such as c:\my documents xxxxxxx
if you find any such entries remove the check mark next to it and reboot. I believe the problem I encountered was caused by a screwed up adware/spyware program.

Well, none of those ideas fixed it either.

It seems as if the My Documents folder has become part of Explorer instead of just being a folder in Documents and Settings.
