Cardbus v. PCMCIA

Can someone please explain the difference between a cardbus device and a PCMCIA device. Got a hold of a 56k cardbus device and was gonna give it to my sister for her old lappy IF she can use it. TIA!

Nah !

PCMCIA (or PC card) is the general term, while Cardbus is the 32-bit version.

Cardbus is 32-bit, (and Type II ?), while PCMCIA can be 16-bit (Type I or II) 0r 32-bit.

Usually if its 32-bit , they call it Cardbus PCMCIA or , simply, Cardbus.

If it only says PCMCIA, good chance it's 16 bit, Type I or II.

Errr,,,,that's what I think.

Compgeeks has a difficult to find, PSION 16-bit K56 PCMCIA Modem.

DOOOG

P.S. Yes, thats what you need for an old LappyLosin suks
Errr...I think.
Call up Computer Geeks Tech support and ask them.

About $19.

PSION also makes a 32-bit version.
